Marc Garneau, Transport Minister of Canada, added parts of Muskoka to an Interim Order list prohibiting navigation in order to protect the safety of people and vessels and to help first responders do their jobs in flooding conditions today (May 1, 2019).

Lake Muskoka, along with the North & South Branches of the Muskoka River and The Moon River are currently NO BOATING zones UNLESS:

  • You can only access your property by boat
  • Contractors acting as a proxy for property owners

If citizens must use a waterway to access a property, they MUST navigate at as slow a speed as possible – NO WAKE will be tolerated.

Any violations of these provisions are subject to fines or up to 18 months in prison, or the seizure of the vessel.
