Today guest host Charlotte, of Lottilou, takes us across the pond to Sweden.

Sweden

I have never been to Stockholm but it is top of my wishlist.  I mainly love Sweden for their design and furniture, their mentality and innovative and open-minded culture, but also for their good food.  But Stockholm is also known for its beauty, its buildings and architecture, for the clean and open water, and its many parks, gardens and canals.  In an ideal world the best time to go seems like Christmas, for the decorations alone, and who would pass up the hot wine; so tasty and yummy!!!

Sweden is a hot bed of incredible designers, and while Ikea dominates cheap and chic furniture land (now globally), many iconics hailed from here as well.  I like mixing Ikea Scandinavian furniture with other more expensive pieces or restored furniture to makes for an interior with great personality.  This Travel Tuesday it seemed fitting that I show you what English designer Ilse Crawford, whose more focused on life than on style did with this fabulous Stockholm hotel.

As she says: “When I look at making spaces, I don’t just look at the visual. I’m much more interested in the sensory thing, in thinking about it from the human context, the primal perspective, the thing that touches you.

Ett Hem is more house than hotel and everyone who stays considered friend of the family than guest.

This small hotel takes feel-like-home to a whole other planet; absolutely no schedule and a refrigerator full of everything you need provide invaluable functionality.

It’s warm and welcoming interior carefully curates a mix of vintage and custom-made furniture that you just want to sink into upon returning from the bustle of your touristy day!

With twelve rooms, Ett Hem offers discerning guests comfortable interiors and bedrooms full of summery whiteness of light.

And how beautiful is the bathroom with all that light and brightness?  I just love it!1983337-ett-hem-house-27aug14_Paul-Massey_b_640x960

Outdoors too, the courtyard garden is a secret city wilderness that is the perfect place for summer breakfasts or winding down in the evening over a chilled bottle of wine.
