Some days you just need more color in your life – and with the grey, flat light, day around here today is no exception so we’re throwing back to Altanta last spring. A french chateau designed by renowned architect William T. Baker was overhauled by 28 design savvy teams for the annual Atlanta Symphony’s Decorators Show House fundraiser and we’re still drooling over the “Gentleman’s Library.”
With design firm Parker Kennedy, whose known for their signature “preppy on edge” style, at the helm the library kept its traditional charm with a serious Palm Beach esque overtone.
Isn’t it fab?! While the gents in our life might not have chosen it as their first pick we’re MADLY in love – still!
Robert Allen played a key role in getting the look just right. The designers chose clear jewel tones for club chairs (Exquisite in Riviera) and throw pillows (Wool Suit in Fuchsia, Cotton Twill in Garden and Open Plain in Sunray) to serve as a counterpoint to the more subtly shaded draperies (Radiant Chintz in Birch). They incorporated playful pattern into the mix by using Soft Cheetah in Billiard Green for the sofa and Cornfield Maze in Leaf for the dining chairs, which were capped off with four stunning throw pillows covered in Malakos in Ultramarine.
