Hot off the press in the furniture world this week.

HM-New-StoreH&M HOME collection is coming to Eastern Canada!  Not only are they totally overhauling their flagship store in Toronto’s Eaton Center but it will be 1 of 10 largest stores in the world at a whooping 56,000 square feet of retail space.  Full of H&M concepts never seen before in Toronto, the store front will feature large digital screens and a fully illuminated LED facade.  Reno’s wrap in Spring 2016.

And in other Canadian furniture news, Ikea Canada has secured locations for its first two Pick-Up-Points, which will allow customers who have shopped online or at an Ikea store to pick up their products closer to where they live.  Those near London,ON and Quebec City, PQ will now be able to not only avoid driving to the Greater Toronto Area or Montreal for $20 and instead to pick up wares on site but also browse inspirational displays using wifi enabled tablets to browse and buy on IKEA’s planning stations.  The mini stores will feature five bathroom displays; four kitchen displays; three bed displays; four PAX wardrobe displays; 75 home furnishings displays; eight planning desks, and material and finish samples and we’re told there will also be 99 products available for immediate takeaway.

Taking it south of the border RH (formerly Restoration Hardware) is taking on VEGAS!  Opening the company’s largest store in the new use Tivoli Village, it is said to be larger than the 70,000 square foot Design Gallery that opened in Atlanta in November.

Contemporary furniture brand Zuo is expanding ops in Mexico come July.  Breaking ground on the 50,000-square-foot facility three months ago, it will have the capacity to  fulfill orders for Mexico and South America with output similar to Zuo USA’s 60,000-square-foot Miami facility, which receives four to seven containers a week and ships hundreds of pallets and individual orders a day.  This new warehouse will include state of the art wireless capabilities throughout and software integration that will streamline our shipment processing and lead times.
