Recall last week we were stationed at the Ace in Downtown LA; today we’re back on the coast (of Cali that is) heading south with Taylor & Elaine to San Diego.

If you haven’t been to SD we highly recommend it — sadly its been a few thousand years and the Pearl was still part weird motel or we would have for sure been right on board this train!

“A VINTAGE MID CENTURY-MODERN BOUTIQUE HOTEL WITH STYLE THAT SOOTHES, SIZZLES AND SUSTAINS.”

This lively hotel near the beach packs quality, value and warm hospitality near downtown San Diego and Shelter Island.  Popular among both tourists and the locals it is the place to hangout, and reading on, it’s easy to see why!

Words like authentic, intimate, hip, cool and small come to mind; and it’s prime location makes it more of community than hotel.

23 feature-rich yet budget friendly lodging accommodations, yes are you ready (a SUITE is $200 USD/night!!).  Suite or not, the design tips it hat to mid century from the 50s through 70s.  Platform beds, distinctive lighting and the right amount of wood!  If most hotel rooms are what you’d call ‘good’, The Pearl’s hotel rooms are what you’d call ‘great’.   Mixing functional with fun (they might just have a pet fish in each!) they even skip the having to call a concierge to find out where you should go (like duh, doesn’t everyone want to know that!)

When not exploring the city or resting your head (because we’re sure thats exactly why you came to SD in the first place!) the Pearl’s social scene has quite the social calendar ranging from good eats, tasty drinks and fun events, day or night.

Case in point, the great nooks for board games or conversations throughout the hotel, or a dimly lit poolside cabana with full bar/food service for up to 19 of your bestie!  Or how about the ‘Dive-In‘ theatre, where you can watch flicks while swimming (heck yes they serve booze!)

The hotel caters to all kinds of socialization. Whether you’re down for for meeting new people by the pool, mingling in the restaurant, or a quiet chat with a friend, new or old, The Pearl has a space to do it.
