St. David’s Hotel and Spa may be an ocean away from Hollywood, but you don’t get much closer to feeling like a star than you do there.
Located in the heart of Cardiff, Wales entertainment certain it’s the only local hotel privy to a 5 star rating and a few hours out of London seen escape-the-city type visits from the likes of celeb guests like Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and Matt Smith.
Not so long ago Cardiff waterfront was standard shipyard zone so transformation to tony arts locale is a new thing which explains when you see a pic from far away that it looks peculiar. St David’s nabbed itself a prime location and didn’t disappoint with its futuristic glass-and metal wedge akin to a museum. Chic, modern and surprisingly bright and airy with a seven-story atrium over the lobby.
Views of the bay are in steady supply from the glass-faced guest rooms, and that’s before you step out onto your private balcony.
Inside rooms are spacious and spare, modern meets Scandinavian in cherry and beechwood, like pages from a design catalogue.
Fine duvets and fabrics pack a punch of color and underfoot a mix of carpet and marble with the perfect dose of lighting throughout. With 142 rooms it’s quiet but nothing compared to the spa.
Noshing on local Welsh seafood, meats and produce, served with a prime view of the bay, its a mix of well-heeled locals and tourists.
St David’s by night … safe to say you won’t miss it!
