Back to school for some and back to decorating for others. The fall is always busy with returning from vacation and wanting to makeover a space for us, which inevitably starts with a can of paint!
We’ve been using the same favorites forever so thought it was about time we branch out. We turned to Benjamin Moore obsessed Colour Explosions color consultant Sarah Bertie to get the scoop on whats hot for fall 2015. Here they are:
1. HC-166 Kendall Charcoal
This is a rich gray with lots of depth and character and can be teamed up with a variety of colours.
Although it’s dark, when paired with light colours, it really shines – bringing a warmth and liveliness to all colour.
It even stands out nicely on exterior surfaces, and can appear modern or traditional depending of the style of the house.
2. CC-80 – Grey Mist
The gray neutral colour works great for open concept homes and bedrooms.
Not only is this colour good for walls but because it is a soft colour it works for cabinetry and furniture as well as trim. If painted in a room that has a lot lighting this colour may seem lighter that it appears but that is to be expected with this colour being considered an off white.
3. HC-4 Hawthorne Yellow
Yellows are always hard to pick because you don’t want anything to bright to blind you but you don’t want anything to light either; this colour is right in the middle.
Being part of the historical collection, Hawthorne Yellow has a very subtle tone that feels like the warmth of the sun is in the room but the is still a richness to the colour.
The colour would be great for bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry room, kitchens and even exterior siding.
#4 AF-290 Caliente
A red that is beautiful and strong without being ‘punchy’
This colour is a toned down red, making it a very liveable for indoors and outdoors
With its warm undertones this colour looks great in a formal dinning room or as an accent wall in your family room,
5. 2063-10 Old Navy
This deep blue give a royal feeling with its richness and intensity.
When accented with whites the rooms has a nautical feel. It feels clean, classic.
Even though the is a deep blue there is still a brightness to the colour when accented with lighter colours and the room has a substantial amount of lighting
6. CSP-620 Wild Blue Yonder
Colour Stories are the newest collection of colours to Benjamin Moore, this colour is part of the fluid blue group. This shade of blue is a subtle blue with a grey tone that makes it transitional, it can work with whites and pastel colour but it can also work with blacks and deeper tones.
The depth of this colour makes a nice dark colour at night but seems light during the day with natural and artificial lighting.
7. CC-90 – Natural Linen
This Crisp neutral colour compliments warmer and cooler tones. Undertones of this colour appear yellow in warmer lighting to give a warm feel to the room but still has a neutral grey beige tone.
When styling with this colour you can givethe room a beach feel by adding white furniture and pale blue accents and barnboard style pieces.
8. AF-685 Thunder
This Beautiful warm grey compliments any style (modern, traditional, contemporary).
With greys being all the talk, this is a colour that will still be popular even those 50 shades of grey are yesterday’s news!
9. 806- Breath of Fresh Air
This colour is timeless – not only is it old but was colour of the year in 2014. Its works well in any space of your house. It’s great for bedrooms and boys rooms just as much as it is in a kitchen.
The colour is especially nice in a bathroom or laundry room because of its lightness in tone giving a spa like feeling that instantly makes you feel relaxed.
10. 2077-70 I Love You Pink
For all those little girls who want pink bedrooms but their parents aren’t sure what pink to pick, this is the perfect pink, so soft and light, that everyone will love it.
If you still can’t commit to four pink walls, try it as an accent wall or ceiling and keep the remaining space neutral!
We can’t decide which room to repaint first … so many to try!
