The new product launches are just around the corner and on this Fab Friday we’re excited to share just that from one of our lighting and accessories manufacturers, Wildwood Lamps. In collaboration with Biltmore they will intro us to a new collection of lighting, accessories and wall art that centers around (wait for it!) – the architecture, landscape, and artifacts of Biltmore! If you haven’t been to Asheville, NC, on your way up to the Blue Ridge mountains we HIGHLY recommend it #stunning.
No really, it’s been named things like the top 7 places to live in the US, 50 most alive places, best place to reinvent your life, 1 of the most beautiful places in america, 25 best places for business and careers, great city for art, happiest place for women, new age mecca, romantic city in the south, hipster central, foodie capital …we could go on but what you need to know is OCTOBER is the best time to visit with the leaves changing color! Anyhow back to Biltmore….
Oh yeah, it’s an estate … a huge one. In fact it’s America’s largest home, built by George Vanderbilt and spans 8000 acres. Something European-esque but we haven’t left America yet! So the collaboration with Wildwood was not about reproduce the antiquities of the estate, but instead, develop relevant and trending pieces inspired by it. 70+ pieces later the results are timeless. So how did they do it?
Hidden gems … take Edith lamp for example. It was inspired by a raised floral relief of a cinnabar box in the Vanderbilt’s collection. Cinnabar has been used for centuries in the Asian culture for decorative objects.
Another was the Imperial Dragon Lamp which was inspired by the dramatic, bronze dragon fish fountain which embodies the legacy of the estate.
